EUDR GeoJSON rejected: open polygon
Why the EU Information System (TRACES) rejects an open polygon in an EUDR plot file, how to close it by hand, and a free tool that closes every ring automatically.
What the EU Information System expects
Each polygon ring must be closed: its last coordinate pair must be identical to its first. The open polygon is one of the common errors the documentation lists as blocking a GeoJSON upload.

Fix it by hand
In the GeoJSON, copy the first coordinate pair of each ring and add it again at the end of that ring. Drawing apps that export a line instead of a polygon are the usual cause.
Fix it automatically
The checker closes every open ring and lists each plot it fixed; the corrected GeoJSON is ready to download.
Nothing is uploaded: the file is read in your browser.
Why this checker
- It repairs what can be repaired, instead of only listing errors.
- The file never leaves your computer.
- Your supplier can check and fix their own file, then send it with a SHA-256 certificate.
- Each checked file comes with a TRACES filing sheet, and the 6 steps up to the reference number.
